Faces of Fullerton held its 7th annual festival this last weekend at the down town plaza in located at the four points of the Fullerton Museum.
The Fullerton Collaborative put on the event and was convinced it was their best festival to date. Executive Director Pam Keller attributes the big turn out to the current state of the economy.
"It was nice because no one felt any pressure to buy anything," Keller said. "Everything was free and it was just a bunch of people interacting."
The event was held mainly on the closed off Pomona St. near the Museum. A center stage with live music kept participants entertained and informed of surrounding activities. Activities were hosted in the event, ranging from classic carnival games to drawings and arts and crafts. A mixture of what the collaborative calls intergenerational activities. Local fresh water providers Yosemite Waters who rented a coffee machine and handed out free coffee.
"They had such great positive attitudes," Keller said. "Their coffee act ran well after the festival ended." The headlining idea for the festival was meeting your neighbors. However, this did not limit the function to Fullerton residents. According to Keller, a survey taken last year indicated that majority of attendees were from neighboring communities magnifying the concept of the event. Overall the festivities were considered a success by the organization. The Fullerton Collaborative noted every effort was made to make absolutely everyone feel welcomed. "We wanted to make sure everyone was welcome no matter what," Keller said. "And I think we accomplished that."
