In a small, dirty, Anaheim venue, three lanky teens wearing Iron Maiden t-shirts and glow-in-the-dark bracelets, are scissor kicking the air, and shaking their shaggy-haired heads as local "goth pop" band, DreamSequence played this past Friday night.

Returning to play at the all-ages venue Chain Reaction, DreamSequence received a positive and energetic response from the roudy crowd.

According to guitarist David Gill, seeing the audience dance to music they created is what thrills him more than anything else. "It's how I measure whether or not we played a successful show," Gill said.

DreamSequence, which formed in 2003, also features Steven Vidaurrazaga on drums, and Omar Garza supplying the vocals and electrifying dance moves. Wearing electric blue ties over black shirts, the band says they are heavily influenced by dance music of the 80's, but dissecting their sound a bit further, you'll find catchy dance beats similar to The Killers, sexy electro sounds similar to The Faint, and emotional lyrics akin to Placebo.

Watching the band play, its apparent that all three members enjoy performing, but with drummer Vidaurrazaga, who plays mostly with a focused expression, you can see his face change at climatic parts in the songs. When he is unable to contain his delight anymore and lets a pleased grin escape.

After playing a handfull of songs, DreamSequence finished strong with X's and O's, track six off their self-titled album that released earlier this month.

Their next show is Friday, Feb. 13 at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go in West Hollywood.
