Randomness, like everything in life is only good in moderation. The "Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!" however uses random in excess.
The show follows no storyline and lacks substance. It's overly reliant on the random quirkiness of Tim and Eric to create any comedic effect.
The episodes last for 11 and a half minutes and are simply a barrage of unappetizing images, bright colors and two chubby white guys being awkward and nerdy.
The cross-dressing, slurring, geeky Caucasians do manage to be genuinely funny once in awhile.
One notable skit is an advertisement for a B'OWL, a bat-owl doll that serves as a good gift for kids, parents and strangers.
Another incidentally funny skit is an advertisement for Balls insurance, $300 for every time you get hit in the balls.
Unfortunately, every funny skit is followed by five bad ones that feature creepy hairy babies screaming out of people's mouths, gravy sloppily poured over dry slabs of meat and surreal digital animations.
In one skit Tim and Eric are in a hacky-sack competition. The scene is done in a video game format that comes out as a weak, non-sensical attempt at Mortal Combat.
In another bizarre and disturbing episode, Tim and Eric sing in an extremely offensive music video about Tim peeing sitting down.
In the end Tim divulges that he pees sitting down because he doesn't like touching his penis.
With lyrics like "You're sitting down not doing brown?" it's enough to make the viewer feel slightly repulsed, if not downright nauseous.
To its credit the show does feature an impressive lineup of guest-stars; Bob Odenkirk (Mr. Show with Bob and David), David Cross (Arrested Development), Paul Reubens (Pee Wee's Playhouse), John C. Reilly (Talladega Nights), "Weird" Al Yankovic, Zach Galifianakis (Dog Bites Man), Brian Posehn (The Sarah Silverman Program) and Michael Cera (Juno, Superbad) all make appearances.
The "Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!: Season 1" DVD is furnished with the following bonus features: How'd Dey Do Dat??: The Making of Awesome Show, Lost Gems and Deleted Scenes, GREAT! (But Not Great Enough): Extended Scenes and Missing Moments, Oops and Ding Dongs Blooper Reel, Awesome Con and Promos.
This esoteric brand of comedy may appeal to a marginalized demographic that can appreciate excessively random, creepy humor and a bit of the psychadelic. However for most people it is really only useful for a couple of cheap laughs.
