In this day and age, a plane flying low over a city would typically scare most, if not all, of its residents.

The morning of April 27, a jet plane flew over New York City's towering buildings, coming a little too close for comfort. The sight of the low-flying plane sent New York City residents into a panic. High rises were evacuated, sending people into the streets.

As for the plane:?Air Force One, sent to New York City by the White House Military Office in order to take pictures of the plane.

How could anyone possibly think flying any plane low over New York would be a good idea?

According to CNN, the Military Office was trying to update its official photograph of Air Force One, from the last picture of it flying over Mount Rushmore.

Why didn't they just take a picture of it flying over Mount Rushmore again?

President Barack Obama was furious and the head of the White House Military Office immediately issued an apology. The problem is, the damage to New York's psyche is already done.

The low flying Air Force? One has proven that New York has still not fully recovered from it's past. That had to be the stupidest thing our own government could do - scare it's own people. Brilliant work.
