This past Monday, Club Nokia celebrated its one-year birthday with a special performance by the southern/ indie rockers Band of Horses and one of Heath Legers favorite bands War Paint.
The night started out with War Paint taking to the stage with a surprising set that felt very slow and methodical in its execution. War Paint’s tone was reminiscent of New York City noise rockers Sonic Youth but with their own unique psychedelic twist to it. There performance was very refreshing and had the slowly growing crowd of Club Nokia wormed up for the main event of the night.
Band of Horses took to the stage as scheduled with fans throughout Club Nokia screaming with delight. The Bands set was very well put together, mixing together hits from their first album and latest release “Cease to Exist” which put them on the map when it came out in 2008.
Besides playing a number of there fan favorite songs, Band of Horses played some never before released material for those in attendance at the show. The new tracks were good, but not as good as there previous works that have become classics in there own right.
Since Club Nokia opened a year ago they’ve had top notch bands grace there stage and Band of Horses and War Paint are just another addition to the many many great artist that will be playing at Club Nokia in the coming years.
