Wednesday, September 14, the fifth "Mighty Mic Night" was held at Fullerton College. Kappa Kappa Psi, a music based FC fraternity, held the event on campus as a fundraiser to go towards the music department. Mighty Mic Night is an event where musicians get together to express themselves as individuals or in groups, and are able to put their own pieces together and expose their talent. Entry was $5 at the door and all funds are given straight to the music department.
This semester there were about 15 people who auditioned for the event. Auditions were open to the public and had been advertised on campus, Facebook, Craigslist and various public locations in the Fullerton area. After the auditions were held the performers were required to get completely prepared behind the scenes and show up, suit up and put on a good show.
The night consisted of 11 acts and had an attendance of about 100 people in the audience. The "Titalatious Quartet," whom were a tuba quartet, were extremely entertaining and knew how to put on a show. They are a group that gets together just for fun. They find original music and make their own version of the piece. They performed their own rendition of "Oops I Did it Again" and it was pure entertainment that got the audience laughing and clearly enjoying themselves. The quartet were all members of the fraternity.
‘TJ' whom was the MC for the night, was a hilarious comedian. He held the show together. There were so many talented people and together they put on a very successful show. The night had a very good turnout.
If you are interested in performing or watching Mighty Mic Night and didn't get the chance this semester, the concert will be back next semester in the Spring.
