The colorful and humorous illustrations of multi-media artist Robert Palacios will soon be featured in Viva La Vida, Fullerton College’s latest exhibit to showcase in the art gallery inside the 1000 Building.

The exhibit is presented in the spirit of Dia de Los Muertos, (which translates as Day of the Dead), a traditional celebration from the Latino culture that honors deceased ancestors and loved ones and will highlight works that specifically focus on the subject of Mexican pop culture.

Known for creating artwork that present real life situations with a touch of humor, Palacios has been proud of his Latino heritage since he was a small child growing up in Los Angeles.

Palacios relates stories through his paintings by using a technique that involves sketching out his ideas, and waiting for a particular mood to set in. He then recreates his thoughts onto a canvas, and adds life with the use of vivid hues and interesting characters.

For insight into Mexican heritage and culture seen through the art of Robert Palacios, stop by Viva La Vida’s opening reception on Oct. 15 at 5 p.m.

The exhibit will be available for viewing Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. (once a week on alternating days) until Nov 17.
