The annual Jazz Festival was an exciting chance for the local community of young musicians to bond over their love of music. The two-day event is a well- known tradition that FC has hosted for 39 years. The festival presented the time to socialize and share experiences with fellow learning musicians who are mastering their craft.
The festival's purpose is to promote the education of jazz music both vocal and instrumental.
The two days also allowed the high school students to compete in competitions ranked by judges. If competiting wasn't on the students' agenda, workshops called clinics were also held to teach instrumental and vocal skills.
"I enjoy seeing the whole [music] department working together to make a success," said volunteer and FC music major Merissa Lauron.
The mainly student-run event is a time of year many music majors look forward to. The jazz festival helps to strengthen the confidence of young artists; it also gives experienced musicians the time and place to inspire their younger peers.
