Il Volo, three teenagers from Italy have been taking the world by storm with their powerful voices and operatic pop style of music.
In May 2009, these three teenagers Piero Barone (18), Ignazio Boschetto (17) and Gianluca Ginoble (16) participated as separate contestants on an Italian television show "Ti Lascio Una Canzone" which means "leaving you with a song."
The winner of the competition was the youngest, Ginoble.
However, the producers of the program noticed these boys had powerful voices that worked well together.
They were composed of two tenors, Barone and Boschetto and one baritone, Ginoble.
The first song they performed was the classic Neapolitan song "'O Sole Mio" which dazzled the audience and quickly landed them a recording label with Universal Music Group.
The name "Il Volo" meaning "the flight" in Italian was chosen for the group.
Managers Michele Torpedine, who has worked with artists like Andrea Bocelli and singer/producer Tony Renis released Il Volo's self-titled debut album in Italy in November 2010.
Their self-titled album along with a Spanish edition has been released in the United States and Latin America.
Though operatic pop is not the typical style of music for teenagers, Il Volo states on their website, "We want to share our love for this music with people all over the world, including kids our own age."
Since then, Il Volo has appeared on popular television shows such as American Idol, Ellen DeGeneres, The Jay Leno Show, Good Morning America, Good Day L.A. and Entourage among others.
Il Volo has also performed for the queen of Jordan, the President's Star Charity event in Singapore and the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon.
They have also completed their first North American and European tour.
Their style of music has been compared to a mixture of The Jonas Brothers and The Three Tenors, similar to the styles of Josh Groban.
Their self-titled album has become platinum in Italy and Venezuela as well as Gold in Austria and they have been named one of Billboard's Hottest 21 under 21.
Recently, Il Volo has released their Christmas EP album and is currently doing a promotional tour for their new album.
This album features five songs with one in German.
The songs include "Silent Night", "Panis Angelicus", "Christmas Medley", "The Christmas Song" featuring American Idol finalist Pia Toscano and "Stille Nacht."
Though this album includes "Silent Night" twice, one in German, the velvety smooth voices of these young singers bring a new feel to this Christmas classic.
The "Christmas Medley" track is more upbeat and has a fun and lighter feel to it.
It is a medley of "Jingle Bell Rock," "Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow" and "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year."
They transition very well between each song that is meant to showcase each voice separately.
"Panis Angelicus" and "The Christmas Song" are also slow and melodic but showcase the great voices of these boys and Toscano.
The album is sold by itself or as a special Christmas edition which is repackaged with their first self-titled album on Amazon.com.
This is a great album to add to your collection of Christmas songs.
The beautiful voices of Il Volo – Barone, Boschetto and Ginoble, will fill your home with the Christmas spirit this holiday season.
