"Valentine's Day," directed by Gary Marshall, was just another typical date movie. The film will remind you a lot of "Love, Actually," but with a cheesy Valentine's twist. The film has an over-packed all-star cast that provides a lot of eye candy for both males and females.
Like “Love Actually,” the movie has various intertwining stories where the characters all tend to connect in some way. In the film, Valentine’s Day is seen from every point of view: elementary school crushes and senior citizens, to
even people who despise the romantic holiday.
While the audience seemed shocked at every twist and turn in the plot, some were not. It got to the point where you could have guessed the “surprises” in the film. You could easily go to Vegas, bet money on the predictability of the film, and walk away with next semester’s tuition.
To give the film some credit the stories did flow nicely without distracting from one another. Taylor Swift gave a surprisingly well-played performance as a ditzy blonde. Anne Hathaway’s character also has a job in the film that provides some great comedic moments. Her job was by far the funniest part of the film.
“Valentine’s Day” is definitely a great chick flick, or date night movie. Seeing how all the women in the theatre seemed to love the film all men should go ahead, and just take their girlfriend or wife to see “Valentine’s Day”. It will score you major brownie points.
