Disneyland enthusiasts are vamping up for a once in a lifetime experience this coming week. On February 29, 2012, Anaheim's own Disneyland theme park, and the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida will be open for 24 hours straight for the first time in Disneyland's 57 year history.

As the parent company of ABC7, Disney used Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest to announce the leap year special.

The Anaheim park is scheduled to open earlier than usual at 6 a.m. on Feb. 29, and will stay open for exactly 24 hours, until 6 a.m. on Mar. 1.

"To celebrate, for the first time ever, the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Parks will remain open for 24 hours on Leap Day, so that our guests can take advantage of every minute of their extra day to make memories with friends and family," said Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts

In addition to the leap year celebration, Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland offered a special deal through January in which guests received an extra day and night free when they booked a three-night/three-day Walt Disney Travel Co. room and ticket package.  The ticket must have been purchased at a non-discounted rate, and only at participating Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort hotels.

Leading up to February 29, and everyday since the first of the year, Disney has crowned a daily winner as part of the "Disney Parks One More Disney Day Sweepstakes" to receive a Disney Parks paid vacation. The prize includes a vacation for four at either the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim or Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

So spend your extra day this year with Disney, with an extra 24 hours at the Disneyland theme park, for what will be a night to remember.

According to the official event website, "One More Disney Day" is subject to capacity restrictions, only select attractions, entertainment, and services will be offered, and valid theme park admission is required.  Visit the website at http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/one-more-disney-day for more information on this rare Disney experience.
