From the moment one walks into the Plush Café on north Harbor Boulevard in Downtown Fullerton, one feels relaxed and welcomed.

That exact feeling is what owner, Gilbert Wormac, was going for; a "comfortable, relaxed, and plugged-in" ambience. Unknown to first time visitors, the Plush Café is not only a café but, "it is essentially two businesses: the Plush Café: an internet cafe & espresso bar, and the Plush Lounge: a live music venue serving beer, wine, and cocktails," stated Wormac.

The café was created "to provide an…entertainment venue [for all ages] in Downtown Fullerton. We chose a name that would reflect the stylized, contemporary nature of the cafe." According to Wormac, the Plush Café and lounge opened in May of 2003 and business has been "evolving, changing, challenging, [and] fun," since the commencement of the establishment.

The café and espresso bar area creates a "fun, carefree, and entertaining" atmosphere with "college music," as Wormac calls it, and low neon lighting, attracting people of all ages. The café provided entertainment consists of an array of magazines including Spin and Blender, and six Macintosh computers at a charge rate of $6.00 per hour with printing capabilities.

The food and beverage menu is diverse and ranges from sandwiches, soups, and salads to smoothies, lattes, and Italian sodas, all at very reasonable prices.

There is more to the Plush Café than meets the eye; the lounge where live bands, singers, and DJs play Indie rock, soft rock, and pop rock (no metal or hard-core). The lounge attracts teens, young adults, and adults for the late night entertainment.

The Plush Lounge has a very exclusive, "back stage" feel to it; the room is intimately small with red walls, and dim red lighting to match. Very comfortable red chairs line the back wall, small tables and chairs occupy most of the available space in the center, and the bar is complete with "space age" designed chairs.

There is usually live entertainment every night; the cover charge Sunday through Thursday is $5 and $8 on Fridays and Saturdays. Bands, singers, and DJs who wish to play the Plush Lounge may contact Wormac via myspace.com at www.myspace.com/plush_cafe_fullerton or contact him via the official Plush Café website at www.plushcafe.com.
