The Campus Commons Building is currently under construction located next to the administration building, along Chapman Avenue, on the site of the old library, the building is scheduled for completion in summer, 2007.

The building will cost $25 million to build by the time it's finished. The new building is being paid for with bond money from measure X. Taxpayers in the North Orange County Community College District (NOCCCD) voted for a tax to support their community colleges.

Fullerton College, Cypress College and The School of Continuing Education are sharing the $239 million raised by the program.

FC was allotted a total of $125 million from the measure, which passed by a large margin in 2002 elections. The money from this bill will significantly improve FC's overall look.
TBP Architecture designed the building, and Flewelling and Moody are handling the construction aspect, according to Janet S. Portolan, Fullerton College Vice President of Educational support.

Portolan also said the project is a multi-prime project. This means that there are over 20 individual contractors for the building, each assigned a small piece of the work.

When completed, the building will contain a new full food-service cafeteria, a dining facility for students, a separate dining facility for
faculty, five large meeting rooms, Student Center, and the Associated Students Office.

The International Student Center will also find a home here, along with the Cadena/Transfer center.
Portolan said that things are progressing as planned, an barring any unforeseen mishaps, the project will be on schedule for it's projected 2007 completion date.

Students all over campus are eagerly awaiting this new addition to campus. With the installment of this new building, students will be given a newer, nicer cafeteria, with all the amneties
typically not afforded at the present dining facility.

With the students behind this new construction phase, despite the mild discomfort it presents, truly typifies the unity of FC's students.
