The Santa Barbara Bowl hosted the end of the Unity 2006 tour Saturday. The event contained one
up-and-coming band, and two bands of legendary
proportions, though one more legendary than
the other.

Pepper opened the final night of their tour with 311 and The Wailers to an excited crowd that had waited with anticipation for two hours for the show to begin. They mostly played older songs, such as "Storm Trooper," "Stone Love," and the radio hit, "Give it up," but they closed their set with "No Control," and "Your Face." These are new songs from their upcoming album, "No Shame," which is set to be released October 3rd.

The crowd danced in the pit throughout their set,
and seemed to enjoy the Sublime-like rhythms and melodies. The band was energetic, and gave off a genuine sense of excitement. They seemed to love being at the show and playing for the crowd.

Pepper has been around since 1997, when their first full length album was recorded in an old coffee shop in Hawaii. The band has slowly built in popularity and maintained a strong fan base since 1999, when they moved to Southern California and were sponsored by skate, surf, and snow clothing company Volcom.

The second group set to entertain the crowd was
legendary band The Wailers. This band was the back-up band for Bob Marley for almost his entire career. Though the band has had a rotating set of musicians play for them, four musicians have remained constant throughout the years.

The Wailers brought the reggae sounds of Zion
that the crowd knew them for. The crowd was
anticipating them as much as any other band on the bill.

They opened their set with the immensely popular hit "Get up, Stand up." They continued with other key songs like "I Shot the Sheriff," "Cobra Style," and "Lively up Yourself." The Wailers ended their set when they invited the members of Pepper to come out and sing "One Love" with them, making for one of the most entertaining moments in either of the bands' sets.
