Hart Community Homes Incorporated is constantly turning around the lives of at-risk teenagers in the local Fullerton Community. HCH was created in 1996 by a group of people led by a board of directors in order to help the community, especially teenagers who were in, but removed from, neglectful or dangerous situations. The organization was inspired by businessman Bill Hart.

HCH has two homes with six teenagers living in each home. These youths have been in the foster care system for most of their lives. The mission of Hart Community Homes is to provide the necessary continuum of care to youth in and emancipating out of the foster care system in order to eliminate homeless at risk youth and adults in the community.

While living in a HCH home, the teens must participate in certain programs that help them learn how to interact in different situations. HCH will provide them with the training to obtain life skills necessary to make it in "the real world."

Many of the people involved in HCH are those who have been in the foster care system for most of their lives. HCH has met the resources provided by the foster care system and has actually surpassed them in the way of being more available to the youth.

While participating in HCH, the youth can meet with a variety of people who will help them and make their living environment the best it can be. The residents are presented with various prevention classes that equip them with the tools necessary to live on their own.

HCH also provides support to those leaving the foster care system and will help in any way possible to make the transition easier for the youth. Along with HCH Monkey Business General Store and Café, HCH's sister organization, helps the people in need that go through the system.
Monkey Business was able to be built because of a grant that HCH received. The store and all of HCH's programs are overseen by Cari Hart, executive director. Its grand opening was just over a year ago on August 17, 2005. The purpose of Monkey Business being to "help foster care youth and emancipated youth form life skills and helping them in any way possible. We are also a resource center," Hart stated.
