Women's Soccer Comes Up Short, Getting Shut Out 5-0 by Moorpark on Friday

The Moorpark Raiders easily disposed of the lady Hornets as they won the game 5-0 on Friday September 8th. Fullerton's record dropped below .500 as they are now 1-2. Moore park has improved to 3-0-1.
The Raiders goals came from four different players as Nicole Ray, Megan Quinn, and Heather Mauck each had a goal. Rebecca Olin had two goals, although she would've had three, but a questionable offsides call canceled it out.
"I wasn't offsides; that was a ridiculous call by the ref." said Olin.
The first half was almost exclusively played in the Hornets zone as the Raiders were getting shots off left and right. It was too much for goalkeeper Emily Tielrooy to handle. Though she did make three really good saves to keep the game in reach at the half being down 2-0.
Hornet Head Coach Pamela J. Lewin replaced the tired Tielrooy with Antonia Hinojos to see if it would spark something for the Hornets, but the results were the same as three more goals went in the net.
But a spark did flare under freshman Jessica Castillo as she played really well in the second half for the Hornets. She had several close shots on goal. Each seemed like it would go in, but never did.
Fullerton's Amanda Phillips was held scoreless for the first time this season after scoring three goals in the two previous matches.
The Hornet's held their first conference game Tuesday against Cypress at 3pm. They will play again on Friday against Irvine Valley in another conference game held at Fullerton.
