Women's Water Polo started off their season strong after a victorious performance of games at the Saddleback Tournament, which took place on September 8-9.

"Due to late eligibility, we did not have our starting goalie or set guard," said Coach Sanders. However, the team was able to pull it through and played a miraculous game against LA Trade Tech 19-2; almost a shutout.

The tournament proved a great start to their upcoming season and hopefully it will provoke a
winning year.

Led by top scorers Tara McGinley, Katrina Rician and Nikki Carreon, the team came out successful.

McGinley scored 16 out of the Hornets 39 goals in the tournament. She was also a leading player defensively as she came out with 8 steals and 5 assists. Rician and Carreon were not far behind.

Although Fullerton did not take the tournament; they came very close with a final record of 3-1. Fullerton dominated in all of their games except for their final match against Mt. Sac which they lost 6-5. The loss should motivate the women to work on their weak spots and prepare them for their next game.

There is great hope for their next game. The starting players will play Wednesday versus OCC. September 13 at 4pm. It is the teams first home and conference game. With all their starting players now eligible, Fullerton must prove themselves as the great unit that they aspire to be. Hopefully, the Saddleback Tournament will be a reflection towards their success throughout the progression of the season.
