All over the world students are applying to different colleges that cost different amounts, but no matter where one goes, money may always be an issue for some.

For the people who are constantly saving their pennies and who can not afford to go to a university, those days may be over soon. With the help of the Fullerton College Financial Aid Office students at FC can find financial aid through scholarships, grants, loans, the Board of Governor Fee Waiver, and more.

First off, scholarships are one way to get free money. Scholarships are not usually based upon financial need but usually recognize different students for academic achievement, community service, athletic ability, heritage, special skills/talents, or simply because of the major they chose.

The Fullerton College Foundation Office and the Fullerton College Cadena/Transfer Center can provide assistance when looking for scholarships on the local, state, and even national level. Many local clubs, companies, and organizations have different scholarships and financial assistance available to students. Some are specifically for community college students.

Two of the more competitive scholarship programs are for the Governor's Scholarship and the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program. Both of these programs offer scholarships and financial aid for academic achievement.

Another way to obtain scholarships is to go onto Fastweb.com. This on-line site matches individuals to scholarships that they qualify for. After filling out a registration form and answering a few questions about yourself, the site will then do the job of going through all the scholarships out there and present the individual with the ones for which they qualify.
The site will never give information about a scholarship the person does not qualify for, unless their account information has become outdated.

Fastweb is a great tool to use if an individual is not necessarily the best student, but may have other skills. Some of the scholarships are for academic achievement and some are basically to get students into the college of their choice. Some of the scholarships found at Fastweb are a bit more challenging and require some time to complete, such as writing a 1,600 word essay about a personal experience that changed you. On the other hand, some are really simple. Such as creating a Christmas decoration and writing a 100 word essay about what it means to you.
