Students who are sick of staying at home or sitting in a quiet library to use the Internet may want to consider other unique options.

Several Wireless Fidelity hotspots are available to users in the Fullerton area, ranging from minimal to no fees at all. Wi-Fi hotspots are public places such as cafés, snack stops, restaurants, and downtown community areas that house wireless access points which allow people to connect to the Internet. A laptop, cell phone, or PDA device is typically all one needs to get connected to the world of Wi-Fi.

Mc Clain's Coffee House is a family-owned business located at 817 N. Harbor Blvd. It is a popular choice among young adults and college students. This hip hotspot features comfortable oversized couches, awe-inspiring artwork, video game machines, and catchy '80s tunes. The laid-back, friendly atmosphere also has an outdoor patio, where the majority of Wi-Fi users hang out and surf the Internet.

"Every night is a popular night for college students to use our Wi-Fi services," stated Kammarie Mc Clain, owner of Mc Clain's, "They like that we offer them a place to do their late-night cramming since we are open until 3 a.m. every night."

Mc Clain's opens at 9 a.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. on weekends. The coffee house charges a flat fee of $1 for use of Wi-Fi services.

Another popular Wi-Fi hotspot is Plush Café located at 207 N. Harbor Blvd. This sleek, modern-looking hotspot features red lounge chairs, comic books, and magazines. Wi-Fi connection costs $3 for all day usage. The Café houses six Macintosh computers that offer Internet access, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Office, Macromedia Flash, Dreamweaver, and instant messaging programs.

If one is stressed out or hungry during their Wi-Fi adventures, the Café offers beer, wine, soups, salads, sandwiches, and a variety of hot and cold drinks. Hours are from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

If one is looking for a generic, free of charge Wi-Fi hotspot, look no further than 444 N. Harbor Blvd. where Starbucks is located.

Early birds can flock to Starbucks Monday-Saturday from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sundays from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

This Starbucks is also a T-mobile hotspot. Registered T-Mobile users get access to uninterrupted Wi-Fi services whereas a non T-Mobile user may experience various moments of disconnection.

There are a number of other Wi-Fi hotspots in Fullerton that are available to interested users: Roundtable Pizza, Al Cappuccinno's, and Ben & Jerry's.
