The Fullerton College Women's Water Polo team proved themselves to be a skilled group at the Diablo Valley Tournament which took place on September 22-23. They came out proudly after winning 3 of the 4 games played in the tournament.

The Women played smart and hard, managing to defeat Cuesta (11-9), shut down Delta (14-6) and play a close but successful game against Merced (6-4). Although these were wins for the team, they were very tight matches for the most part, with a lot of fast person-to-person play and many near misses, leading up to their only defeat at the tournament.

The team played strong but not strong enough for the Diablos, who hosted the tournament. Fullerton lost to the Diablos (9-7). It was a very close, tense match but they simply could not pull it together in time, allowing the two crucial goals to slip past, and they then suffered a close loss to their hosts.

The team now has a standing record of 7-2 and remains fifth in the state. This is only the beginning of a long and competitive road for them, as there remain several challenging teams in their conference. Riverside, who the Hornets play today, are as of yet undefeated and pose a major challenge to the Lady Hornets. Aside from regular season games, the San Diego Tournament looms ahead this weekend.
