Nestled on the corner of Melrose Ave. and La Brea Blvd. stands Pink's, a family-owned hot dog stand. Pink's has become a Hollywood landmark and is world famous for their hot dogs.

Their hot dogs are all-beef and specially made for Pink's by Hoffy. They are flavorful and juicy. The menu boasts over 30 different ways to make a hot dog and at reasonable prices.
Purists can order a hot dog with traditional mustard and ketchup for $2.50. It is served on a soft bun and goes great with a side of ketchup and an order of fries. Their French fries are extra crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Most of the hot dogs are made with Pink's special chili. The chili was made by owner Paul Pink's wife, Betty, just for Pink's and is a secret recipe. The chili was a little greasy, but had really good flavor. It is spicy enough to satisfy any chili lover.

Aside from regular hot dogs, Pink's also serves polish dogs. Customers can choose from spicy or mild. A mild polish dog with bacon and mustard is highly recommended.

Pink's takes creative liberties with its hot dogs. The Guadalajara Dog has relish, onions and tomatoes and is topped with sour cream. They also make burrito dogs. The Bacon Burrito Dog is a big flour tortilla wrapped around two hot dogs, two slices of cheese, three slices of bacon, chili and onions.

There is also a Baja Veggie Dog with guacamole, chopped tomatoes, and chopped onions for those who would like to enjoy a Pink's dog minus the beef.

Some of the hot dogs are named after their celebrity clientele: Ozzy Osbourne Dog, Rosie (O'Donnell) Long Island Dog, and the Martha Stewart Dog.

Pink's is known for its celebrity guests. Some people visit Pink's in hopes of catching a star. The walls of the establishment are lined with autographed headshots from Nicole Kidman, Celine Dion, Bob Saget, Ellen Degeneres, and Jay Leno, to name a few.

Pink's is great for a daytime shopping trip at Amoeba or late night grub after a concert or clubbing. It's fun to sit out on the patio in lawn chairs and eat a hot dog and feel like a part of history, a part of the Hollywood magic, but it may not be worth the trip just for the food. But it should definitely be a stop on a trip out to Los Angeles. Just remember to bring cash. It's one of the few Hollywood hotspots that does not accept credit cards.
