She wakes up at four in the morning and proceeds to the shower where she spends a full hour and 15 minutes. During this time, the girl is using therapy shampoo and conditioner to make her hair shiny and "beautiful."

After her shower, she steps into her robe and goes into the kitchen to find breakfast: a banana, 5 crackers, and a glass of water. She then moves onto brushing her teeth and doing her hair and make-up.

Directly after spending almost two full hours in the
bathroom, she moves on into her bedroom to get dressed. The girl pulls on her size 0 pants and her x-small shirt with some
dissatisfaction that she can't be smaller.

At approximately 8 a.m. the girl puts on the final touches by adding just a hint of perfume to her get-up and heads out the door to her boyfriend's car.

Not all girls go to the extreme like this girl, that I once knew, but most do place a great deal of concentration on their appearance. I personally do not think it is that important to look like a million dollars everyday. Don't get me wrong, everyone should look presentable, but to go to such lengths seems ridiculous.

I do not fully blame all of the parents of people who are like this for raising their child to be superficial, but I do blame the media (ironic, I know).

Over the years the media has placed an emphasis on outer beauty by using different tactics to either sell their product or capture TV audiences.

In the magazine industry, publication's spreads continue to
feature the smallest women they can find as well as only the most "beautiful" women they can find.

If you have seen "The Devil Wears Prada," you know what I am talking about. Now in the movie, Nigel (Stanley Tucci) points out that the only sizes found in the collection of samples are sizes 2 and 4.

Whether the only size models that actual magazines use are "2" and "4" is irrelevant. But the fact is that the line is in a movie that a lot of young teenage girls have access to. This movie and its content will inadvertently influence someone, as all movies do.
