Dear Credit Card,

It was a good run. Those two years were some of the best times of my life. You were my first committed relationship. It saddens me that it's over.

I remember our first shopping spree like it was yesterday. I bought a new wallet so that you would have a nice home. We followed up by purchasing a new dress so I could look pretty and match the new wallet. Then we hit up our favorite record store to build up my growing music collection.

Remember when I didn't have enough money in the bank, so I used you instead of my debit card? I promised to pay you back as soon as my paycheck cleared. Of course that didn't happen, but you let me slide. You were always very forgiving. In fact, you gave me the first six months of our relationship interest free. What more could a girl ask for?

It was beautiful in the beginning. Remember all the concerts we went to? You were my number-one card to use at Ticketmaster. Our history is still saved in its database.

Then things started to get ugly. The honeymoon was over and you started charging me nearly 20 percent on my unpaid balance. But I was foolish and blind, and thought if I just curbed my spending, things would get back on track with us. It was easier said than done and when I found that cute pair of Steve Maddens.

I used and abused you. You, in return, put me into debt. We were like Amy Winhouse and Blake Fielder-Civil, but with money instead of cocaine and prostitutes.

I kept pushing you, but it wasn't entirely my fault. You kept raising my credit limit because on paper I looked like a good credit card holder. I laughed at every bump in my credit because I didn't think it was possible for me to spend that much money, but you insisted and I did.

How could you do that to me? You know I struggle with math. That's why I'm a writer and not a business student.

But this summer was rough. I turned 21 and thought I could handle going out with you.

I was wrong.
