A new bill, SB-924, has been passed from the hands of the state Senate to Governor Schwarzenegger. If approved, the bill would allow California voters to voice their opinions on the Iraq war on the ballot in the February primary. This would be the first time citizens officially voted on war.

Too bad it wouldn't accomplish anything.

President George W. Bush has put a lot of time and effort into falsely linking Osama Bin Laden to his war on Iraq. A lot more effort went into blatantly lying about Iraq's possession of weapons of mass destruction.

He put in way too much effort for those pesky, kooky, meddling Californians to interfere, much less anyone else.

This war has been the subject of active protest by millions of people worldwide since it began. President Bush has been criticized time and time again by journalists, scholars, political scientists, and all walks of life for his poor execution and ineffectiveness in a seemingly pointless war.

Apparently, he didn't really care. His response to protest and general dissent is usually around the equivalent of saying "Smell my finger" and farting the alphabet.

During his reign as "King Commander" of Earth, our president has made one thing abundantly clear: he does not care what we think of his war.

So what are a few more voices in the form of dots on a ballot really going to prove? That Californians know the difference between "yes" and "no?"

We shouldn't be wasting time on moot points in Sacramento. We should instead be paying attention to the GOP attempting to divvy up California's 55 electoral votes by district instead of state.

Or maybe we should spend a little more time focusing on other things, like boring old education and health care.

Schwarzenegger should trash this bill faster than a born-again draft-dodger runs for President.

Since the bill will more than likely be defeated by the Arnold. How far are the people willing to go to show thier distaste for the war? But then again we have the feedom to disagree with our government and its decisions in this country unlike other countries in this world. (Continued…)
