It took the women's volleyball team a trip out of state to lose a set this year. Over the weekend the Lady Hornets participated in the Las Vegas Tournament held on Friday and Saturday. They squared off against a myriad of teams from four different states.

The other schools to take part in the Invite were Salt Lake Community College, and Snow Community College, both from Utah. Central Wyoming College represented their state, Oregon sent Mt. Hood College, and Illinois sent Chicago area College Parkland.

The Lady Hornets went 2-2 in pool play losing to the Salt Lake Bruins in two straight sets. The Bruins would go on to win the Invitational with a record of 6-0. Fullerton swept the Central Wyoming Rustlers in two straight sets.

The Lady Hornets fell to the Mt. Hood Saints in three sets 1-2. However, Fullerton would even out the pool play with a three set victory over the Parkland Cobras 2-1.

With a 2-2 record in pool play they were set to play the Snow College Badgers. The match went five sets before the Lady Hornets finally fell 16-14. Fullerton finished five out of twelve in the tournament.

"I was very happy with the weekend," said Fullerton Head Coach Ed Rapp. " Gina [Conley] and Leah [Haproff] had very strong serving games throughout the tournament."

Both middle blocker Conley and middle blocker Haproff had solid games in other aspects as well. Conley finished with 22 kills and a hitting percentage of .434. She came up with 21 digs as well. Haproff culminated 22 kills as well, but had a higher hitting percentage with .509 to lead the team.

Outside hitter Crisi Nihipali had 51 kills, to lead Fullerton, and a hitting percentage of .500. She also had 30 digs. Outside hitter Nicole Coffer tallied 26 kills with a hitting percentage of .474.

Last Wednesday, Fullerton (5-3) met up against Mt. SAC in the South Gym on Fullerton's campus. Against local competition the Lady Hornets are perfect; they have yet to lose a set. Fullerton took the Mounties (0-2) in three straight sets.
