The Wombats is a relatively new band coming from Liverpool, England. Matthew Murphy, who provides the vocals and also plays the guitar and keyboard, formed The Wombats. Bassist and vocalist Tord Ă˜verland Knudsen, and drummer Dan Haggis, round out the band.
Despite the fact that the group was formed two years ago, the trio has already performed all around the United Kingdom and China. They came to the U.S. in August and performed in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and other cities. The band is now back in Europe, where they are touring across the continent.
The six-song E.P. "Kids in America" includes the group's recent hits, "Backfire at the Disco," "Kill the Director" and "Moving to New York." All tracks are driven by pop/punk melodies, while the lyrics relate to the absurdities of love, dating and relationships with women.
The Wombats debut album, "A Guide of Love, Loss and Desperation" will be available in the U.K. on November 5. There is no set date for a release in the U.S., but the album can already be pre-ordered on the band's official Web site.
This album is definitely lively and those who like this group are certainly looking forward to hearing some more. Let's hope the upcoming album is as good as the previous singles.
