Cook's new film is funny with help from Alba, but is too raunchy.

"Good Luck Chuck," directed by Mark Helfrich, is the story of a man named Logan, who grew up to be a successful dentist and a charmer, but not every aspect of his life is as good as it may seem.
The opening scenes begin with Logan at age 10 at a party. The party-goers were immersed in a game of spin the bottle and when it was Logan's turn and he had to spend seven minutes in heaven with Aniesha (Sasha Pieterse), a gothic girl.
Not getting her way, Aniesha hexed Logan for all eternity. The hex deemed that he will never be happy and whoever is with him will be true to the next man she is with.
Forgetting the curse in his past, Logan grows up and continues to date, none the wiser. Throughout the length of the feature, the story takes the viewer through the tangled web that is Logan's love life.
At this point, what starts out as a nice beach scene with Logan and his girlfriend, Carol (Chelan Simmons), enjoying each other's company turns into a wild romp in the sand. Of course, as per the curse, after having sex with Logan, she broke up with him and married the next guy she was with.
The full exposure of Simmons cleavage in this shot was completely unnecessary. In fact, numerous scenes were unnecessary in the way they exposed various women.
Most of these scenes take place after Logan's life-long friend, Stu (Dan Fogler), encourages Logan to take advantage of his new-found popularity. For a while, each scene features Logan with a different girl who had heard about the curse, every woman from his secretary to women off the street. Logan saw doing the deed as "helping them."
Each of the women wanted to have sex with him solely to find their soul mate.
With each of the new women, the "peep show" escalated and eventually became a full-blown, multi-screen inside look at a brothel.
This type of entertainment has a time and place, but it is not in a movie theatre in which not everyone is fully aware of what is to come. The scenes shown could have been portrayed in a better way with the same message coming across. It seems that people today just can't stay focused unless someone is getting laid or writers can't write a "good" script without someone becoming naked.
