Yesterday evening, a board of trustees meeting was held to discuss the circumstances surrounding curriculum rejected by the president due to concerns about class sizes.
Faculty Senate President, Kenneth Collins gave a statement along with
Curriculum Committee Chair, Jennifer Combs committee member Cindy Zarske and former Cypress president Stephen Gold. The statements brought up the issue of what power the president's signature holds and who is in charge of determining school curriculum. The North Orange County Community College District Chancellor Jerry Hunter also gave a statement of the board of trustee's position.
In a June 12 BOT meeting, curriculum lacking the FC president's signature was presented the board. Because it is unusual for the president not to sign, the board tabled the curriculum. The board has been holding closed-session negotiations for four months to discuss the tabled curriculum.
