"I am proud to be a part of an institution in which students and faculty are so clearly dedicated to education," Buckley said.
He was welcomed aboard the administration team this July.
Buckley has been working in various community colleges for more than 21 years and has never come across a school like Fullerton College.
"The dedication and focus on academic success among students and faculty is extraordinary," Buckley said.
His own education began at Mac Cormac Junior College in Illinois, where he received his associate's degree in Para-Legal Studies.
He then transferred to the University of Hawaii where he received his bacehlor's, master's and doctorate in history.
He was a history instructor in the Hawaii Community Colleges for seven years.
He later moved to Quincy, California.
He taught Environmental Studies and history at Feather River College for an additional seven years. Feather River College is the smallest community college in California. It was at Feather River College, where Buckley met his wife, who was the women's basketball coach there at the time.
She also happened to be from Fullerton.
After his term at Feather River College, Buckley was still on the move. He moved to Lake Tahoe where he served as Dean of Instruction at Lake Tahoe Community College for a brief three and half years.
He then spent another three and half years as Dean of Visual and Performance Arts at Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga.
"[I look forward] to developing positive constructive relationships with the faculty, students, staff and administration at Fullerton College," Buckley said.
Buckley hopes to work together with the other Deans and faculty members to make progress on many college initiatives such as the Basic Skill Program. The program already exists but they are looking to improve it. They would like to make it more efficient.
It does not stop there. He is focused on other things including: accreditation, student learning outcomes and enrollment management.
Buckley values everyone who enjoys education and strives to do better. He is really happy to be part of the Fullerton College administration.
