Bonerama, a brass band from New Orleans, was formed in the late '80s by two trombone players named Mark Mullins and Craig Klein. They were joined by trombone player Steve Suter and Rick Trolsen, sousaphone player Matt Perrine, guitarist Bert Cotton and drummer Eric Bolivar.
Bonerama released their first album in 2001 and received very positive reviews from specialized magazines. They have been welcomed by the public and since then living solemnly on tour. They have also been repeatedly recognized by "Rolling Stone" magazine. Recently Bonerama has been awarded "Best Rock Band" by the Big Easy Awards.
Their first album, "Live at the Old Point" was recorded at the Old Point Bar & Grill in historic Algiers and the second one at the Tribeca Rock Club in New York. Bonerama started working on their third consecutive live album, "Bringing It Home" last September.
They recorded several live shows at Tipitina's Uptown in New Orleans. The tone and texture of the recording gives the impression that it was recorded in a studio, but with the applause of a live audience interjected between the songs, and the energy that is palpable, the listener can recognize that the album was recorded live.
"Bringing It Home" is described by reviewers as "brassy, bawdy and overflowing with funk, but with a little touch of rock." They cover well-known songs such as Led Zeppelin's "Ocean" and the Beatles' "Helter Skelter" better than any rock band ever has.
This CD is a mix of different styles of music, but once you finish listening, the rock'n'roll and funky sounds mixed with that particular "orchestra" style, is what will keep Bonerama in your mind. Moreover, if you like a festive vibe you will definitely want to add this album to your CD collection.

I know some of these guys personally, and it is so much fun to watch the faces of people seeing them play live for the first time.If they come to the area, it is well worth checking them out on a live performance. (Continued…)
