Greenhalgh obtained his bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics from Cal State Fullerton.
He worked part-time for a year at Cypress College and Cerritos College until he was hired as a full-time teacher at FC.
Greenhalgh has worked mostly as a math professor during his 21 years at FC. He has taught classes ranging from pre-algebra to business calculus.
He also served as an Interim Dean for Engineering and Technology and has been the Staff Development Coordinator.
As newly appointed Interim Dean, Greenhalgh is in charge of the day-to-day operations of the department. He schedules classes, assigns instructors, plans the budget, works with student services and oversees faculty evaluations.
Greenhalgh will be Interim Dean until June 30, 2008.
He plans on staying at FC either as an administrator or a faculty member. As Interim Dean, Greenhalgh cannot make many new changes but this does not deter him from making adjustments.
According to Greenhalgh, there is talk of hiring four new faculty members to the department in the Spring, and this is a big change in itself. He will be focusing mostly on updating the department curriculum.
"I like how everyone pulls together to work through things here," Greenhalgh said.
He is looking forward to the things that he will do as the interim Dean of Math and Computer Science.
