For anyone that eats out in downtown Fullerton, Roman Cucina may simply be "that Italian place over on Harbor Boulevard."

After all, there are so many different places to eat, it seems as though when you choose to eat in downtown, the choice is narrowed down in a "Wheel-of-Ethnic-Food" type of scenario.

However, for anyone who loves Italian food, Roman Cucina is a stop that needs to be made.

The atmosphere inside is a combination of a traditional Italian restaurant, wine bottles on display, romantic lighting and dark wood tables; but the music playing throughout changes from Annie Lenox to Tears for Fears to Rihanna.

It is comforting, but at the same time, you will not mistake Roman Cucina for your parent's favorite Italian hangout.

Especially once your waiter greets you at the table. If there is one thing that this restaurant is known for, it is their waiters.

Eight extremely attractive males in their 20s grace the restaurant floor and stand behind the bar, waiting to make sure their guests get everything they need.

It is probably an obvious explanation as to why the majority of the guests inside the restaurant are women in their 20s as well.

However, once the diners get past the eye candy walking around in tight black T-shirts, they see the menu and are dazzled yet again.

It seems simple, but the flavors are anything but.

On the appetizer menu, the calamari is a favorite, but the bruschetta is something else.

Broiled at a high heat with huge chunks of fresh tomato and garlic, it is a taste of heaven. Add the smothering of fresh mozzarella grated on top, and it is not a dish that should be missed.

Meals come with a choice of soup or salad, and the salad is a typical simple green salad with a choice of dressing.

The soup, however, is absolutely heavenly. It is a modern take on traditional Italian wedding soup.

A clear chicken broth with small noodles, tiny meatballs and escarole, this soup is so simple and yet so flavorful, you cannot leave without sampling it.

Roman Cucina offers sandwiches the size of your arm, and if that is what you feel like eating, the eggplant Parmesan is fantastic.

Huge slices of breaded eggplant, smothered in Roman's delicious marinara sauce, on a gigantic fresh baguette. If you can finish a quarter of the sandwich, you will feel a small sense of accomplishment.

If pasta is where your tastes lie, the pasta alla checca is delicious. It's simple sauce of garlic, olive oil, tomatoes and fresh basil and it is packed with flavor.
